Argentina is a country with a rich heritage and historical significance worldwide. It’s the second largest country in South America. It borders Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia.
It has diverse terrain from the Andes Mountains in the west to the pampas of Patagonia in the south, polar and tropical glaciers in Antartica, subtropical wetlands in Neuquen and Mendoza provinces.
The geography of Argentina is characterized by a large central plain where most of the country’s population resides, and vast arid areas to the east, west and south.
Did you know that the country doesn’t tolerate seeing people of color ?
Unfortunately it’s hard to believe that Argentina is the country who has less than 1% of black people on its territory.
As much as the Argentinian citizens might want to deny it, Argentina is indeed a racist country. In fact, it has been proven that racism has been part of the country since its foundation.
There are no laws against racism in Argentina. The National Constitution doesn’t mention anything about discrimination or racism at all; not even in the section which mentions human rights. This shows that there is a lack of protection against any kind of discrimination and prejudice in Argentina’s legislation, and this comes as no surprise considering the history of Argentinian racism.
Argentinian slavery lasted until 1860 but was formally ended by law only in 1888, by which time all black people where already enslaved for over 50 years after independence from Spain (1810).
However, there are still many schools that are not accessible to black people because they don’t follow the state.
To conclude note that, racism is not just a skin color. When you envy a person, you become jealous and when you are jealous you begin to experience fear or hatred. After that you start hating that person for no reason.
The country is certainly not racist like a lot of countries in the world but we cannot deny that its population is not, like in a lot of countries in the world.
Here’s a quick video that you can watch showing the President of Tunisia accusing black migrants of being a nuisance on his territory.
