Do you have enormous difficulties in speaking, have trouble reaching out to others or going to parties?
Note that shyness is something that many people suffer from. It can be hard to overcome, but there are some steps you can take to do so.
The first step of overcoming shyness is understanding what it is and how it affects you. Once you understand what shyness is, you’ll be able to understand the root causes of your shyness.
You may find that shyness stems from a lack of confidence of fear of judgment. Whatever the cause, once you’ve identified it, you can begin taking steps towards overcoming it.
Here’re the solutions to overcome your shyness.
Have confidence on yourself
Self confidence is very important, but first you need to get to know yourself. If you have a presentation to make in public, don’t be afraid to fail. Learn to control your nervousness and tell yourself that failure is human!
As Churchill said ” Act as if it were impossible to fail”
If you are a really shy person, practice at home in advance of a presentation. For example, you can present your presentation in front of your parents, siblings or even stuffed animals. Stopping in front of a mirror to talk while looking at yourself also helps.
Get out of your house once in a while
It’s not easy for a shy person to get out of the house to have fun, especially if they’re not used to doing it. If you really want to overcome your shyness, make an effort to go out even if it’s to a public library, an ice cream shop, a movie, a gym etc….
If you can’t get out of your shell and be around people, it’s probably due for some reasons like : fear of other people’s judgments, afraid of being rejected, or betrayal (whether in love or friendship).
It will give you a chance of scenery, make you feel better and meet new people. Getting out of the house once in a while can reduce your stress and depression levels.
Get involved in the theater
Role-playing helps to overcome shyness. For exemple, if you are still a student, don’t hesitate to sign up for a role-playing activities at your school. Drama is an excellent cultural discipline that will help you gain confidence, ease, and improve your self-esteem.
Talk instead of write
When you chat with your love on social networks (WhatsApp, Telegram, Snapchat, …) do it via audio or video call. It will help you feel more comfortable when you speak. It will lower your street level when you are in front of anyone. Note, it’s not great to go a whole day without saying a word.
