RAMADAN 2023 has begun, here’s what you need to know about Islam.

Date:

Islam is a monotheistic religion that originated in the Arabian Peninsula in the 7th century CE. Its followers, known as Muslims, believe in one God (Allah in Arabic) and consider the prophet Muhammad to be the last and final messenger of God.

The central text of Islam is the Quran, which Muslims believe to be the word of God as revealed to Muhammad over a period of 23 years. The teachings of Islam are also based on the Hadith, which are collections of the sayings and actions of Muhammad.

The Five Pillars of Islam are the basic tenets of the faith and include the declaration of faith (shahada), prayer (salat), charity (zakat), fasting during the month of Ramadan (sawm), and the pilgrimage to Mecca (hajj) at least once in a lifetime for those who are physically and financially able.

Islam is practiced by over 1.8 billion people worldwide and has a significant impact on culture, art, and politics in many countries around the world.

Ramadan’s starting day may vary in different countries. For those who don’t know what’s Ramadan note that Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, spiritual reflection, and increased devotion and worship.

During Ramadan, Muslims refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, and engaging in sexual activity from dawn until sunset. The fast is broken at sunset with a meal called iftar. Muslims also increase their reading of the Quran, attend additional prayers at mosques, give charity to those in need, and seek forgiveness for their sins. The end of Ramadan is celebrated with a festival called Eid al-Fitr, which is a joyous time of feasting, gift-giving, and gathering with family and friends.

According to the apparition of the Moon, Ramadan will start on Wednesday night 22th March 2023.
